How do they say? The first pancake is always spoiled.

Sunshine State of the U.S., famous for its theme parks, beaches and alligators. The house of Mickey Mouse, manatees and Cuban immigrants. The place where in 1946 invented frozen concentrated orange juice. One of the most gray states across America, where 19.1% of the population are aged 65 years and older, the highest percentage in the nation. Florida, the place where we started our dream trip around the United States. Why here? The reason was very prosaic. Our start was strongly determined by the purchase of a camper, and after reading the various blogs and forums in the Internet, considering all the pros and cons, it turned out that in Florida it should go quite smoothly with all registration formalities and insurance (about how it went I wrote already in the two previous posts HERE and HERE).

Our tour through Florida turned out to be a solid lesson of camping and use of the RV vehicle. We had to face many first times, the first camp, the first connecting our car to electricity, water and sewage, first dumping the contents of black and gray container, first search for accommodation through Boondockers, the first wild camping, and many, many others. Fortunately, on our way we met a very helpful people, who always had time for us, a lot of patience and served the assistance and good advice.

We were travelling in a bit chaotic way, we did not know where we will be welcome and where they will persecute us because of the size of our vehicle. Overall, it was not easy to figure it all out and enjoy the journey. Journey with little baby. Our needs moved to the second place, and every day was dictated by the new manager of our team. We had to be careful not to get overheated and temperatures were very high. Not to get burned in the sun, and make sure he was nourished and had dry nappies. Oh, and having a good humor was also very important, however teething didn’t help us much.

We have missed many places, others only have seen a little. But we are back to Florida at the end of our trip and we hope to see more.

Meanwhile, below we present the best places in Florida, of course, in our opinion (the list will be updated when we return home, wherever that is).

Our top 5 Florida:

Key West

The southernmost point of the continental United States. In spanish called "Cayo Hueso" - "Island of Bones," from skeletons that were found on the beach by the discoverers of America. It is said that „Key West is like they shook the U.S. and all the nuts fell to the bottom”. It is the place where Ernest Hemingway enjoyed his life and worked in the years 1931 - 1940. Us Key West wowed with laid-back atmosphere, colonial houses, butterflies and good food.

Miami Beach

What can I say ... the beach, the beach and the beach again. Wonderful white sand and water, turquoise, aquamarine, transparent, just a fairy tale. And in the water ... the sharks! We were so lucky that while walking the shores of the ocean we could see 2 sharks in the water. People run in panic and huddled together on the beach waiting until the sea creatures disapear. Of course, there was one brave man who had somehow brought the lost "fish" into deep water, and made the holiday atmosphere back again to Miami Beach.

Some of you probably remember the TV series "Miami Vice" (those who are too young can use imagination, or attempt to find something on the Internet) and the sports cars driving the streets surrounded by a row of lush palm trees. Yes, we also drove Ocean Drive, almost like in the movie, but in traffic and not a sport car but our RV.

St. Augustine

Founded in 1565 by the Spaniards, the first city in the United States. Very charming place and this is not very American in its architecture. The best way to see it is to keep a map hidden deeply into the pocket and allow yourself to spontaneously explore streets of the old town.

Manatees

Big and friendly mammals, which many would like to see in their natural environment. Indeed, there is an opportunity to swim with the manatees and not even very expensive, but we didn’t feel this is for us... We decided to visit two places where we could see these individuals, who due to injury which suffered after meeting with motor boats, can not come back to its natural environment. In the Homosassa Springs and Sarasota Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium we had the opportunity to learn more about these wonderful creatures and hear their individual stories.

St. Petersburg

No, I do not like museums. Only the Pablo Picasso Museum in Malaga and the Science Museum in London are the places where I can return, if I only had such an opportunity. But after visiting St. Petersburg to this list I must add Chihuly Gallery and the Museum of Salvador Dali. According to Wikipedia Dale Patrick Chihuly is an American sculptor of monumental installation made of art glass, glassblower, steel worker and designer of hand-blown glass. What can I say, these glass installations made by Mr. Chihuly are really amazing. It had to be a real challenge for Buddy Valastro to make a cake in the shape of the chandelier designed by the artist himself. And we do not think that it was a fail when the cake fell to the ground after it was hanged at the ceiling.

And Salvador Dali ... words are unnecessary, an artist with a big "A".

How not to buy the car in the U.S.

About buying a car in the US I already wrote – first post from our roadtrip. After reading it, you probably think that this is a piece of cake. Well, we thought so too. Did I say that we had tried to prepare ourselves very carefully before the trip? Well ... despite the hours spent on books, blogs, forums, etc., we did not avoid mistakes. Costly mistakes. So how not to buy the car in the U.S.?

How to buy a car in the U.S.

How to buy a car in the U.S. when you're a foreigner and why would you really do it?  May the 3rd we began our 6 months roadtrip through the North America. We used to travel a lot, using our 23 vacation days in 100%, but we always thought about some long journey. We were saving money, but we did not have clearly defined plans. In November last year, our family grew bigger and we decided that now is the right moment. Yes, we would love to go to travel around the world, for few years but with our newbie we decided to spend 6 months in the U.S. and Canada. And here the question arises, how do we travel over there? Very quickly, we decided to RV (recreational vehicle). At the very beginning we did not know whether it should be motohrom, a car with a trailer or semi-trailer. It was clear that our 4 wheels needs to transfer us from point A to point B, but what is more important, become our new home. After checking renting prices for such a long time it was obvious that we can not af
